Appeal for information following armed robbery in Runcorn

Police investigating an armed robbery in Runcorn are appealing for witnesses and information.

Sometime between 6.53pm and 8.21pm on Tuesday 14 May, a 37-year-old man was walking along the Runcorn Busway on Bridge Street in the direction of Village Square when he was attacked by four to five unknown individuals.

The caller reported that one of the attackers was believed to be in possession of a knife and, during the attack, the victim's coat was slashed and his bank card stolen.

The suspects involved are believed to be male and aged between 14 and 18 years old.

One of the suspects was also believed to have been wearing a black North Face top and a balaclava at the time of the incident.

Enquiries in relation to this incident are currently ongoing and, as part of their investigation, officers are appealing to anyone with information or video footage to get in touch.

Detective Constable Faye Nowell, of Runcorn CID, said:

"This attack has left the victim feeling considerably shaken and we are doing all we can to locate those responsible and bring them to justice.

“I would urge anyone with any video or dashcam footage that may aid our investigation into this attack to please get in touch.

"The same goes for anyone with any information which may help us with our enquiries.”
