Detectives are appealing for witnesses and video footage following an attempted robbery in Winsford.
At around 4.00pm on Wednesday 17 January, a 24-year-old woman was walking through St Johns Estate, near to Greenfields Park, when she noticed she was being followed by two teenagers on a blue moped.
Both of the teenagers had their faces covered, one was wearing a balaclava and the second was wearing a motorcycle helmet.
The woman initially ignored the pair, but as she approached Arkwright Close, she confronted the pair and asked what they were doing.
The rider started shouting at the woman, so she continued to walk onto St Johns Drive, before walking towards Heritage Close.
After following the woman over pedestrian bridge over the A54, onto Mount Pleasant Drive where she ran into a garden and phoned the police.
The suspects initially fled the scene, but after the leaving the garden, the pair returned and told the woman to hand over her money.
The victim refused and ran off, followed by the two teenagers who chased her though the Mount Pleasant Estate to the shops at Cheviot Square. The suspects subsequently fled the scene on the moped.
Enquiries in relation to the incident are ongoing and a 16-year-old boy has been arrested as part of the investigation.
Detective Sergeant Stacey Connor said:
“I understand the concern this incident is likely to cause, and I would like to reassure residents that we are doing all we can to establish exactly what has taken place.
“One teenager has already been arrested and enquiries to identify the second suspect are ongoing.
“As part of our investigation we’re urging residents on the St Johns and Mount Pleasant estates to check their CCTV and doorbell cameras to see if they have any footage of the incident, the same goes for anyone with any dashcam footage.
“We’re also keen to hear from anyone who was in the area at the time and believes that they may have witnessed the incident or seen anything suspicious.
