Officers investigating a serious assault in Widnes are appealing for witnesses to get in touch with them.
At 1.50pm on Thursday 14 December, police were called to reports of an assault on Waterloo Road, Widnes.
The caller reported witnessing a group of men assaulting another man.
Officers attended and found a 36-year-old man had been injured. Paramedics also attended the scene and the man was taken to hospital where it was discovered he had suffered serious injuries. He remains in hospital at this time.
Following a search of the nearby area, four men matching the suspects’ description were arrested.
Three men from Runcorn, aged 36, 39, and 41, plus a 37-year-old man from Widnes, have been arrested on suspicion of section 18 assault.
Detective Sergeant Christopher Sheffield said:
“Our investigation is in its early stages and as part of our enquiries we would urge anyone who witnessed this incident to get in touch with us.
“The same goes for anyone who may have any dashcam or CCTV footage which they believe may aid our investigation.
