Cheshire Constabulary has been ranked 25th in the Inclusive Top 50 Employers list for 2022 – 2023.
The list is comprised of the UK’s most inclusive employers and was announced at the Inclusive Awards on Thursday 1 December.
Now in its seventh year, the list acknowledges and ranks organisations which are the most consistent throughout the whole tenure of their business and encompass all types of diversity and inclusion.
Head of People officer, Nicola Bailey, said: "I am proud to announce that, for the sixth year running, Cheshire Constabulary have been named as one of the top UK employers for work-based inclusivity.
"This was the most competitive year to date which saw seven other police forces being ranked alongside Cheshire and despite this, Cheshire Constabulary were ranked 4th in the top police forces on the index.
"Our position in the Top 50 reflects our ongoing commitments to creating an inclusive space so that our employees are able to perform to the best of their abilities.
"We continue to up our efforts in finding new ways in which we can make our workplace feel more inclusive so that everyone is treated like a valued member of Cheshire Constabulary.
"I am truly committed to this cause and will continue to strive towards bettering our workplace to ensure we remain a top employer of choice."
Cheshire Constabulary have made a significant effort to celebrate diversity and to ensure best practice is being carried out among staff members.
A number of initiatives are underway which demonstrate the importance of the inclusivity agenda such as the active staff support networks, internal dyslexia screening and Inclusion Ally scheme.
The force has previously been recognised for the positive steps taken towards inclusion and diversity through achievements like the British Dyslexia Association SMART Award and the Disability Confident Leader reaccreditation granted in June 2021.
Founder and CEO of Inclusive Companies, Paul Sesay, is very clear in the intent of the Inclusive Top 50 UK Employers, saying: "The independent advisory panel of Diversity & Inclusion experts review and analyse each and every submission.
"They look at all areas of diversity, including age, culture, disability, ethnicity, gender, LGBTQ+ and religion.
"Those organisations who have participated submit a great wealth of evidence regarding their inclusive practices, covering a wide range of areas and topics, and it is from this that the experts determine the Top 50 Inclusive employers.
"Entries are growing each year and submissions are from a very wide range of employers: IT companies to NHS Trusts; police forces to The Open University and utility organisations to building societies.
"There were many new organisations entering the 2022 list including: Allianz, Transunion, Humberside Police, Rolls-Royce, Lincolnshire Police, Novuna, Canon, Police Now, Open University, CGI, Crown Commercial and NielsenIQ.
"The intention is for it to grow further as more organisations seek to embody best practice in diversity and inclusion.
"Inclusive Companies helps organisations create cultural transformation through a ‘hearts and mind’ approach to increase social inclusion and empowerment with the intention of embedding DEI into everything they practice as an essential ingredient."
