Police are reassuring residents following reports of an assaults in Vickersway Park in Northwich.
At around 4pm on Sunday 9 October police were made aware that a man had been found with serious injuries under the railway arches near to London Road.
Initial reports suggested that the man had been located in Vickersway Park, however, the man was actually found under the railway arches on Wier Street.
He was treated at the scene by paramedics before being airlifted to hospital.
Having since spoken to the man, it has been established that the injuries were in self-inflicted and there was no assault.
Police Constable Ell Estcourt said: “Vickersway Park is a great asset to the local community and I understand the concerns that reports of this nature can cause.
“Having spoken to man we can confirm that that man had not been to the park and he had not been assaulted.
“The man involved remains in hospital at this time where he is receiving the treatment and support that he requires.”
