At around 1.30am on Saturday 16 December, police were called to support Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service following a fire at a house on Shrigley Road, Pott Shrigley.
Sadly, a woman died as a result of the fire. Formal identification has not yet taken place, but she believed to be a 97-year-old woman.
Her next of kin have been informed.
Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service have launched an investigation into the cause of a fire and Shrigley Road remains closed at this time.
