Crewe police partner with local retailers for festive safety trails

As the festive period approaches and footfall across Crewe is likely to increase, Crewe Police are partnering with the Homefeeds Pet Food Supermarket and Tesco in launching two Christmas-themed Safety Trails. One for children and families, and one for dogs and their owners.

The Santa Paws Trail involves various checkpoints that will cover the relevant rules and regulations that come with responsible dog ownership. As for the two-legged attendees, the Family Trail will require groups to solve a number of riddles focusing on the safety of young people - whether that be when out and about across the town or online.

After successfully completing the trials, participants will be rewarded with a small gift from Santa Claus and Tesco, and the dogs will receive a free treat bag courtesy of the Homefeeds Pet Food Supermarket for dogs.

PSCO Lizzie Jolley, of Crewe LPU, said:

"Last year over 250 local children joined us for the trail, and we are excited to grow and open up the trail to offer safety advice for local dog owners, as well as local children and families.

"There is a competition running throughout the day for the best dressed child and dog, with the dog prize being for up to 4 dogs and owners to visit Happy Paws, Train and Play in Shavington.

"These events are being held to help us reduce incidents involving local young people, local dog walkers and their dogs and to make Crewe a safer place."

The Safety Trail will be running from 11am to 3pm on Saturday 14 December 2024. The starting point for the trail is outside the Taste For Life Café at Queens Park, Victoria Avenue, Crewe, and everyone is welcome to attend.
