Detectives investigating an incident at a place of worship in Widnes have charged a man.
John Lefevre was arrested on Monday 5 August.
The 35-year-old of Albert Road has since been charged with racially aggravated intentional harassment.
Lefevre has been remanded in custody and is next due to appear at Liverpool Crown Court on Tuesday 3 September.
Chief Superintendent Jonathan Betts said: “As this case demonstrates, we treat all reports of racial and religious harassment extremely seriously and will ensure that swift and robust action is taken against all those found responsible.”
