Man arrested in Crewe thanks to community intelligence

Officers have arrested a man in Crewe on suspicion of attempted burglary thanks to information from an eagle-eyed member of the public.

At around 3.30am on Thursday 13 February, police were contacted by a concerned member of the public who reported suspicious activity at the Morrisons Daily Store on Gainsborough Road.

The caller reported that they had witnessed a man climbing over a rear wall. Officers were deployed to the store and on arrival they spotted the man inside the secure service yard at the back of the building.

The 39-year-old local man was arrested on suspicion of attempted burglary and theft. He remains in police custody where he is assisting officers with their enquires.

“This is a fantastic result which truly shows the value of information from the local community.

“Thanks to information from an eagle-eyed member of the public we’ve arrested a man on suspicion of theft and attempted burglary.
