A 73-year-old man from Northwich has been jailed after breaching his Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO).
Andrew Wolverson was sentenced to 32 months in prison at Chester Crown Court on Wednesday 14 May.
Wolverson, from Northwich, had several previous convictions for possession of indecent images and was subject to a Sexual Harm Prevention Order, which contained a number of strict conditions.
On 13 November 2024, officers attended his address as part of the routine checks made to monitor registered sex offenders.
During the visit, Officers noticed an LP Vinyl record under his mattress. The picture on the front of the record depicted a topless young female. This raised the suspicions of the officers and this led to a white jiffy envelope being found this contained several images of naked children which had been drawn by Wolverson.
Due to the discoveries, officers arrested Wolverson and then conducted a full section 32 search of the address where more drawings were found in a notepad hidden under the bed. Many of the drawings depicted images of children being sexually abused.
In total officers recovered 173 prohibited images of children along with an unregistered USB stick.
Wolverson was subsequently arrested and later charged with possession of prohibited images and breach of his Sexual Harm Prevention Order. He pleaded guilty to all the charges.
Police Constable David Howells, of the Sex Offender Management Unit at Cheshire Police, said:
“As a registered sex offender, Wolverson was required to adhere to a number of conditions to deter him from reoffending.
“Sadly, he chose to ignore these conditions, and he is now facing the consequences of his actions.
“This sentencing shows the effectiveness of monitoring offenders who are subject to Sexual Harm Prevention Orders and highlights the consequences of not adhering to the conditions.
“I hope it reassures people that we do carefully monitor registered sex offenders in the community, along with our Probation partners and take swift decisive action when a breach is discovered.”
