Sergeant and Inspector Promotion Process 2020
Cheshire Constabulary will shortly be accepting applications, from internal and external applicants, promoting to the rank of Sergeant and Inspector
The promotion process will be based on Merit, Openness and Fairness. These underpinning principles contribute to a robust selection process based on good practice as recommended by the College of Policing.
Merit - No one should be selected for a job unless they are competent to do it. The job should only be offered to those candidates who will do it best. Successful candidates should be chosen from sufficiently strong and diverse pool of eligible applicants
Fairness - There should be no bias in assessing candidates, and processes must be objective, impartial and applied consistently
Openness - Opportunities must be advertised in a transparent way with the aim of attracting a strong field of eligible applicants. Potential candidates should be given reasonable access to information about the job and its requirements and the selection process
The assessment of the process will be based against the College of Policing's Competency and Values Framework.
Overview of the recruitment process:
- Competency based application form
- Work sample exercise
- Values based interview
