What made you decide to join the Special Constabulary?
I am currently doing my Professional Policing degree at Chester University and wanted to learn and experience the practical knowledge of policing.
How do you find the balance between working as a special constable in line with your current employment?
I am able to work around both easily, as being a special is so flexible.
Do you feel supported by the Constabulary since joining as a special constable?
Yes! The support we receive from our Special Command team, supervision and regular colleagues is second to none.
What tasks would you undertake during a shift as a special constable?
A wide range of tasks from dealing with anti-social behaviour to ensuring Cheshire’s roads are safe for all.
What do you enjoy most about working within the Special Constabulary?
I enjoy working at a fast pace, making decisions and the people I work with.
What do you find most rewarding from your role as a special constable?
The most rewarding part is protecting and helping vulnerable people, that need it the most.
Would someone need prior experience in another field in order to be part of the Special Constabulary?
No, however any skills held in previous roles can be transferable.
What would you say to someone considering joining the Special Constabulary?
Joining the specials is a rewarding voluntary role, where no two days are the same.
