Hearing outcome for former Police Constable 37298 Shannon Burt

While serving as a police officer with Cheshire Constabulary, Police Constable Burt was involved in the supply of anabolic steroids, a Class C controlled drug. In doing so, the officer compromised their position as a police officer and behaved in a manner that discredited the police service, with the potential to undermine public confidence. It was alleged that this conduct breached the Standards of Professional Behaviour relating to Honesty and Integrity and Discreditable Conduct.

It was further alleged that, on three separate occasions while serving with Greater Manchester Police, Police Constable Burt shared body-worn video footage with a third party. In doing so, the officer was alleged to have breached the Standards of Professional Behaviour relating to Discreditable Conduct and Confidentiality.

The Accelerated Misconduct Hearing found the allegations proven and determined that Police Constable Burt had committed Gross Misconduct. Had the officer not previously resigned, they would have been dismissed without notice.
