These are our current standards of principles providing guidance to staff in respect of a specific issue or piece of legislation. Our policies establish the expected organisational behaviour in line with our organisational objectives, leading to a consistent approach to decision making. Our policies set out broad expectations and are the framework from which procedure flows.
Our policies make use of acronyms that may be unfamiliar to members of the public. You can find a list under abbreviations.
The Lord Chancellor’s code of practice on the management of records was issued under Section 46 of the Freedom of Information Act 2000. Cheshire Constabulary adheres to Part I of this code, to set out good practice in records management.
A statutory code of practice on the management of police information (MoPI), was introduced in 2005, in direct response to recommendations of the Bichard enquiry report. It is being implemented by all police forces in England and Wales. Cheshire Constabulary have declared compliance with the first phase of MoPI.
We welcome feedback on the service you have received from Cheshire Police. We work in partnership with the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC).
If you have a complaint about a request made under Freedom of Information and Data Protection legislation, please view the FOI appeals procedure.
Cheshire Constabulary is committed to providing a service that is efficient, effective, excellent, equitable and empowering.
