Officers investigating a fail-to-stop collision in Poynton are appealing for witnesses and those with footage to come forward.
Shortly before 5.40pm on Friday 9 January 2026, police were called to reports of a collision on Park Lane, Poynton.
The collision involved a vehicle and a pedestrian. The pedestrian, an 82-year-old woman, suffered a serious injury to her leg and was taken to hospital where she remains at this time. The vehicle failed to stop at the scene.
A 28-year-old man has since been arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving and failing to stop. He has been released on bail.
Sergeant Iain Condliffe said:
“We are appealing for anyone who witnessed what happened and has not already spoken to police to please get in touch with us. This occurred at a busy time of day when there would have been a lot of traffic and footfall in the area.
“The same goes for anyone with any relevant CCTV or dashcam footage from around the time of the incident.
“You can report information to us by calling 101 or you can visit our website www.cheshire.police.uk/tell-us quoting IML-2248718.”
