Police are appealing for witnesses following two robberies on a Runcorn canal towpath.
At 4.52pm on 9 June a man was walking along the canal towpath near Halton Road when four males wearing balaclavas threatened him and demanded his mobile phone, keys and car keys, which they took from him before pushing him into the canal. They then made off towards the Bridgewater Expressway.
Minutes later the group demanded another man hand over his watch and jewellery. He refused, walked onto the main road and called police.
The males were described as aged between 15 and 17, wearing dark tracksuit bottoms and balaclavas.
DC Chris Sheffield said:
“I would urge anyone who saw a group of males in the area around this time to contact us. I’d also urge people living or working near the canal to check their CCTV and ring doorbell.”
