Officers investigating a serious collision in Ellesmere Port are appealing for witnesses to contact them.
On Friday 15 March at around 1.10pm, police were called to reports of a collision on Marlborough Road, Ellesmere Port.
The collision involved a pedal cyclist and a Ford Transit van. Following the collision, the driver of the van has exited the vehicle and assaulted the cyclist.
The cyclist suffered serious injuries to his leg and hip during the incident.
A 35-year-old man has since been arrested on suspicion of section 18 assault, causing serious injury by dangerous driving, and failing to stop after a road accident. He has been released on conditional bail.
As part of ongoing enquiries, officers are looking to speak to any potential witnesses or those who have footage of what happened.
DC Alex Clephan said:
“As part of our investigation, we would like to speak to anyone who witnessed what happened during the incident.
“The same goes for anyone with any dashcam or CCTV footage which may aid our enquiries.
“If you have any information, please contact Cheshire Police on 101, or via cheshire.police.uk/tell-us, quoting IML-1778347.”
