Man charged in relation to fatal collision involving off-duty police officer

Detectives investigating a fatal collision in which an off-duty police officer lost her life have charged a man in relation to the incident.

Sadly, despite the best efforts of all those involved, the 29-year-old from Congleton, who worked as a Beat Officer in Macclesfield, died at the scene.

The driver of the Land Rover was arrested before being released on bail pending further enquiries.

Following a detailed investigation David Millar, of Sandbach Road, Congleton, has now been charged with one count of causing a death by dangerous driving.

The 78-year-old has been bailed and is next set to appear at Crewe Magistrates’ Court on 23 November 2026.
