On Monday 9 February, police were called to multiple reports of male suspects attempting to break into cars during the late evening. This included in the Capesthorne Road and Ullswater Avenue areas of Warrington.
A vehicle had subsequently been stolen from outside an address in Capesthorne Road.
At 11.18pm, police then received reports of a collision in Derek Avenue involving the stolen car – a grey Dacia Spring - which had collided with two parked vehicles. It was reported that the occupants of the Dacia had fled the scene.
Two 15-year-old boys have since been arrested on suspicion of theft of motor vehicle, theft from motor vehicle, vehicle interference, aggravated taking without consent, possess offensive weapon in a private place, burglary, making off without payment and fraud
They have been released on bail.
Police Sergeant Kerry Barber, of Warrington Local Policing Unit, said:
“We understand the concern incidents like this cause for the local community.
“Behaviour of this nature is not acceptable, and I hope the fact that two people have been arrested will provide residents with some reassurance.
“We would continue to urge anyone who witnesses any suspicious activity in their area to report it to police via 101 or through our website.”
