Man handed Criminal Behaviour Order after shoplifting in Ellesmere Port

A man has been handed a three-year Criminal Behaviour Order following repeated shoplifting in Ellesmere Port.
Christopher Beaton, 39, appeared at Chester Magistrates’ Court on Monday 1 June where he was handed a CBO for a period of three years.
This comes following evidence secured by officers of repeated shoplifting in Ellesmere Port and intimidating behaviour towards retail staff.
Under the terms of the order Beaton must not:
- Enter Ellesmere Port as defined by a mapped area
- Enter any retail premises in Ellesmere Port
He must:
- Leave any retail premises immediately, if staff or police request him to do so
- Engage with a nominated Alcohol and Drug Recovery and Wellbeing Service

Constable Lucy Hawkins:
“Beaton is a prolific shoplifter, who has been responsible for persistent retail theft offences across Ellesmere Port for a number of years.
“He was also aggressive and intimidating towards retail staff, causing significant distress and concern within the local business community.
“This order aims to safeguard businesses, support staff, and reduce the impact of repeat offending in Ellesmere Port.
“If anyone witnesses Beaton breaching any of his terms, they should contact police on 101 or through our website to report it.”
