If you need to contact the police and it’s not an emergency, you could save time holding on the phone and report it online. Your online report will be dealt with in the same way as a call to 101.

We receive a lot of calls during busy periods of the day which has an impact on how long it takes to answer calls to 101.

Our dedicated staff endeavour to ensure they provide the best possible service to the public, protect the most vulnerable whilst answering 101 calls as quickly as they can.  If your incident isn't an emergency we would suggest trying to call outside of our peak hours to save you waiting. Our peak hours are:

• Monday to Friday: 1pm to 6pm
• Saturday: 11am to 12 noon
• Saturday: 10pm to 11pm
• Sunday: 8pm to 9pm

Instead of waiting on the phone, you can report non-urgent crime online. The incident will be dealt with in the same way as a call to 101.

Reporting online gives you the opportunity to write down everything you want to tell us at a time that is convenient for you.
