Community Conversation events will take place in each of the nine Local Policing Units. These will be the beginning of a conversation with the local communities within each Local Policing Unit (LPU) in Cheshire. This is where you tell us what you have, what you need, and how you would like your communities to look. This is your chance to help us work to a better community for you to live and work in.
The ultimate goal of these events is to improve community spirit and encourage active citizens whilst promoting improvements in the community put forward by members of the public who work and live in the area.
“We all belong to a community. If things get tough and we reach out and support each other, we can make a real difference.”
- Nick Knowles
Firstly, people can discuss what provisions and offerings are currently available in their community. This will include community offerings, preventing crime, clubs, individual support groups, etc. With the help of residents, groups and organisations we want to ensure that the community understands what is currently available for them to use, where any gaps or needs are, and how we can fill those gaps.
Around the tables the conversation will then move onto what issues there are currently, and where they want to see their community being in the future. After each question the whole room will come together to discuss the most popular discussion topics to have come out of the conversations.
A report will be produced following the first event which will contain details of the organisations and groups who were mentioned, and the answers given to the statements and questions asked.
These points will be followed up by Community Conversation Action Groups attended by the local community including residents, groups, organisations and partners to explore the conversation further, including funding pots that can be applied for to take any actions forward.
