This process is open to any officer currently employed by a Home Office Force.
Officers choose to transfer to Cheshire Constabulary for a variety of reasons:

Cheshire Constabulary is a strong and respected police force, but our ambition goes further — we aim to be outstanding in everything we do.
Our approach is rooted in neighbourhood policing, supported by a strong commitment to evidence-based practice and problem-solving.
As a police officer in Cheshire, you’ll play a vital role in protecting local communities, driven by a passion for keeping people safe. You’ll act with integrity and honesty, uphold the highest standards, and demonstrate respect for diversity — both among your colleagues and within the communities you serve.
Whatever your reasons for transferring, you can be confident that the knowledge, skills, and experience you bring will be valued and welcomed from day one.
To apply, you must:
Cheshire Constabulary operates an ongoing transferee recruitment advert, meaning applications are always open and available for submission.
When completing your application, you will be asked to provide:
(Please note: posting preferences cannot be guaranteed and will depend on operational needs.)
If your application is successful and your skills, knowledge, and experience match our current requirements, you will progress to the assessment stage.
You will be invited to attend an in-person CVF-based interview, assessed at the level appropriate to your rank.
Location: Cheshire Constabulary Headquarters, Clemonds Hey, Oakmere Road, Winsford, Cheshire, CW7 2UA.
Successful candidates will be progressed and issued with a Conditional Offer to begin Pre-Employment Checks.
As part of the process, we will conduct:
Medical Costs: Cheshire Constabulary will reimburse any medical form-related costs incurred during this stage. Successful transferees can claim expenses once they have started in force (receipts required).
Once pre-employment checks are complete, you will receive a formal offer and be allocated an intake date.
We will consider your posting preferences, current role, specialisms, and training. However, operational demand takes priority, so preferences cannot be guaranteed.
If you cannot accept the initial posting offered, we may consider an alternative, but this cannot be guaranteed. If no suitable posting is accepted, your application will be placed on hold.

DI Rob Pritchard
I transferred to Cheshire and currently work within the Integrated Offender Management Unit as the Detective Inspector.
My former police force’s decision to cancel their promotion process led me to explore opportunities with neighbouring forces. However, it was an easy decision to pick Cheshire Constabulary as I wanted to give back to the community I had made my home for the past 18 years.
The recruitment process was made extremely easy by Cheshire Constabulary HR department. They did a fantastic job arranging for my interview, sending me information to assist me and updating me throughout the process. On the day of the interview, they provided a friendly face to meet me at HQ and show me to the room my interview would take place. Once complete HR arranged for an induction day and made sure I left with any equipment or contact numbers I would need to help me to settle in.
Transferring forces is a personal decision and will undoubtedly cause anyone considering the move apprehension. I can honestly say that Cheshire is a friendly force who support you at each stage. I would recommend the force to anyone considering the move and I am confident that it is a decision you will not regret.
DCI Lee Moriarty
I transferred to Cheshire in Jan 2025 after serving 24 years in my previous force.
I was ready for a fresh challenge where I could contribute my experience and continue to grow. I came on promotion, and I am the Detective Chief Inspector for the Digital Media Investigation Unit which encompasses the Digital Forensic Unit and Online Child Abuse Investigation Team.
The recruitment process was very smooth and professional. Communication from the recruitment team was excellent and I felt supported at every step. The interview was challenging but fair and most important to me, relevant to the role and rank I was applying for.
From day one I have been welcomed and supported. Everyone has been very friendly and supportive.
Cheshire has a very collaborative culture and I’ve been impressed by the operational competence and shared ambition across departments. I’ve had the opportunity to bring my experience into new areas and have been encouraged to learn and adapt to local ways of working. The whole experience has been very positive for me and one I would absolutely recommend to others considering transferring.
