Residents raised concerns about electric bikes and scooters being ridden in an anti-social and dangerous manner, especially along Overpool Road and Mill Lane.
Issued 01 May 2026
Local patrols continue to target these riders and have stopped and seized several illegal electric bikes being used in the area.
However, if a rider makes off, officers do not pursue these bikes or scooters, as doing so can significantly increase the risk of a collision, putting both the rider and members of the public in danger. This is why we rely heavily on community intelligence, particularly information about where these bikes and scooters are being kept. All information provided by residents is treated in confidence and helps us continue to tackle this issue safely and effectively.
