Cheshire Police are now using an innovative streaming platform known as GoodSAM which allows our 999 and 101 operators to view live footage from the scene of an incident during a 999/101 call. If the operator decides that GoodSAM should be used during a call, they will send a one-time text message containing a link to your mobile phone. Once clicked, you may need to allow access to your camera, microphone and location via the automatic prompts on your phone – the operator can talk you through this.
Once the camera has opened, the live streaming will begin automatically and the operator will be able to view the stream. It can also provide us with your location so we are able to respond quickly. The live streamed video is recorded and will be stored and managed by Cheshire Police. The recording will not be stored onto your mobile device.
Our operators can also send a text message which would allow you to upload an attachment if this is relevant to the call, for example a previously taken photograph or video.
You MUST ensure that you are not putting yourself or others in danger when using the service.
We have included our GoodSAM privacy notice to this webpage which tells you how we use information collected from this functionality.
