Will there be face to face interviews, or during the current times would they be conducted online? | Candidates successful at the Online Assessment Centre who meet the Cheshire Constabulary standard will be invited to an in force interview. This is a panel interview in front of Operational Officers and Police Staff representatives which will last approximately 30 - 45 minutes. These interviews will take place face-to-face however, online interviews can be accommodated in exceptional circumstances. |
How is the interview process assessed? | The Interview process is assessed against the competency and values framework (CVF) provided by the College of Policing. CVF Booklet link |
How many questions will I be asked during the Interview? | You will typically be asked 6 questions based on the CVF framework relating to your previous experience and how you would react to situations as a Police officer. If your interview is deemed as an academic equivalency interview, you will be asked an additional 2-4 questions relating to the Academic side of the course by a member of the University training team. |
What is an Academic Equivalency Interview? | This type of interview is where the qualifications a candidate holds do not meet the attainment level required by the University but, equivalent experience has been obtained as a equivalence to the educational eligibility criteria. In this instance a member of the University will sit on your interview panel and ask 2-4 questions relating to the academic side of the role to make sure you will be able to cope with the demand of working full-time as a police officer and studying for a academic qualification. |
I have been unsuccessful in an interview, how long does written feedback take? | Due to the volume of applications we receive, we’re are unable to provide individual feedback for candidates at the interview stage. However, we do run general interview feedback sessions which you will be invited to attend. These sessions are usually online via Teams and will address the current common themes why candidates fail, they will also provide tips on how to improve. |
