E-Bikes and Off-road bikes causing issues , specifically in Victoria Park.
Issued 29 July 2026
Operation Handles was established to address the ongoing issue of off-road motorcycles, e-bikes and other illegally used vehicles within the community. Throughout the year, officers have carried out targeted patrols in known hotspot locations, using intelligence-led approaches to identify offenders and disrupt anti-social and unlawful vehicle use.
In addition to proactive patrol activity, officers have worked collaboratively with a range of partner agencies, specialist resources and internal departments to deliver enforcement initiatives aimed at preventing offending and improving community safety. These operations have included high-visibility patrols, targeted enforcement days and engagement with local residents to gather information and identify emerging concerns.
As a direct result of this activity, a number of illegal vehicles have been seized and removed from the streets, with offenders identified and prosecuted where appropriate. This has helped to reduce nuisance behaviour, improve public confidence and make local neighbourhoods safer for residents.
Operation Handles remains an ongoing priority, and officers will continue to utilise all available powers and resources to tackle the illegal use of off-road bikes, e-bikes and other prohibited vehicles throughout the coming year. Through sustained enforcement and partnership working, the aim is to further reduce offending and enhance the quality of life for local communities.
